Boards & Committee Positions

Overview
Board and Committee positions become available at various times throughout the year, and are noticed in the Daily Messenger and Victor Post newspapers, as well as posted here on our website.

The following is a listing of the active Boards and Committees for the Town of Victor:

Boards - Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, Conservation Board, Board of Assessment Review, Board of Ethics, Boughton Park Commission

Committees - Parks and Recreation Citizen’s Advisory Committee, Historic Advisory Committee, Cemetery Preservation & Restoration Committee

People wishing to be considered for openings should do the following:

  • Be a resident of Victor
  • Submit a letter of interest and a resume (or letter) detailing their experience and why they wish to be considered for the opening to Tina Kolaczyk, Human Resources Department, Victor Town Hall, 85 East Main Street, Victor, NY 14564 or by Email  prior to the deadline submitted on the position opening notice; OR fill out our Board / Committee Application Form
  • Applications will be reviewed by Human Resources, and applicants will be notified of interview times with the Town Board.

The selection process is as follows:

Process of Filling Vacancies to Appointed Boards
1. Committees, Boards, Advisories, etc., will submit member selection criteria to Human Resources for use in the process of appointments for vacancies to the Town Board

2. The Town Board will review, edit, (if necessary) and adopt via resolution, member selection criteria.

3. Position(s) will be advertised per standard practice by the HR department and openings will be posted on the town website. HR department will notify other boards and committees of vacancies.

4. Applicant resumes and letters of interest will be referred to and kept by the HR department. A list of all interested applicants along with their respective qualifications will be provided to each current member of the affected Board and the Town Board.

5. The HR department shall establish the interview schedule.

6. Interviews:
A. Planning Board, ZBA and Conservation Boards:
(1) The Town Board, Chair and Vice-Chair where vacancy exists will conduct the interviews.

(2) The established selection criteria will be used along with desirable candidate skill sets to reach a decision.

(3) The Supervisor will notify the HR department of the selection

B. Board of Ethics:
(1) The Board of Ethics will conduct the interviews.

(2) The established selection criteria will be used along with desirable candidate skill sets to reach a decision.

(3) The Board of Ethics chair will notify the HR department of the selection.

C. Other committees, boards and advisories:
(1) The committee, board or advisory will conduct the interviews along with liaison Town Board member.

(2) The established selection criteria will be used along with desirable candidate skill sets to reach a decision.

(3) The chair of the committee, board or advisory will notify the HR department of the selection.

(4) The Town Board reserves the right to conduct interviews if deemed appropriate.

7. After completing interviews, all candidate and interview documentation, including but not limited to; letters of interest, resumes and decision matrices will be sealed in an envelope and returned to the HR department by the Board Chair. The file will be retained for three years and access to files will be via Town Board direction.

8. Upon completion of the interviews, the name of the candidate who is selected to fill the vacancy will be forwarded to the Town Board for further consideration for appointment upon a resolution to be acted upon at a Town Board meeting.

9. Letters of congratulations to the appointees will be sent to the new appointees. Letters of thanks will be sent to all interested parties who applied.
