The prescribed burn of the Bluestem Unit at Ganondagan State Historic Site is scheduled for Monday May 6th, 2019. In the words of our burn boss, the weather is giving us a small opportunity to “thread the needle” – so we may have to cancel with short notice.
On Monday: School Rd is expected to be closed starting at 9 am and Boughton Hill Rd will be closed by 9:30 am. They will be reopened when deemed safe by our burn boss. In the past, our burns have been quick however there is always a possibility it will take all day, especially if weather conditions change.
Police and road/trail closure staff will meet at 8 am for a debriefing on logistics and to be assigned their post for the day.
Neighbors and the public that have requested to be on our notification list will be alerted Sunday afternoon. Please email with any questions or call our office phone 585-742-1732. This number will be routed to our Public Information Officer’s cell phone, Whitney Carleton, on the day of the burn.
Thank you!
